How To Do Masters Abroad As A Veterinarian [Complete Guide]

It is the ambition of every veterinary aspirant to go for higher studies after finishing the bachelors journey. We will also tell you about what things you need to have before pursuing your masters degree in an abroad country.

Things To Do Before Applying

You might have learned previously that before going to a foreign country for pursuing higher education, the candidate must pass the English proficiency exam with a minimum 7.0 band score which is mandatory to match the eligibility criteria. The second thing to consider as a veterinarian is that you have to decide that whether you want to do a clinical based masters or a research based masters.

If your masters is clinical based, then the first thing you have to do is to pass the NAVLE exam and BCSE (if you are an overseas veterinarian from a non-accredited university). When you are done with these exams you can also work in Canada or USA as a veterinarian. If are going for a research based masters program, then you have to follow the given steps.

  • You need enroll in different academic projects in your university which include food sciences, poultry sciences and dairy farm management etc.
  •    You should write articles about your completed projects and they should also be published in journals. This will help you to build a strong resume when you apply for masters in an abroad university. The candidates should also have a good CGPA and good overall GRE score if you want to enter a top ranked university.

What Is GRE

The GRE (graduate record examination) is basically an MCQS- based admission test which is a prior requirement for the candidates before applying for an international university. The GRE consists of two types of tests i.e. GRE general and GRE subject. It is the candidate’s choice that which test he/she takes. The GRE general consists of the following test pattern. this test consists of 360 MCQS and candidates must score above 300 in order to qualify for a top ranked university.

It has three sections

  • Analytical writing where you have to write two essays on the respective topics.
  • Verbal reasoning where you will be given 40 MCQS in computer based portion with limited time of 60 minutes . While 50 questions in paper-based portion the limited time is 70 minutes.
  • Quantitative reasoning where you will be given 40 MCQS in computer based portion and the limited time is 70 minutes. While 50 questions in paper based section with limited time of 80 minutes. Click here to register for GRE. This test is mainly conducted in the month of April, September and October.

The GRE subject consists of the following test pattern.

  • This test contains 144 multiple choice questions and it it conducted to evaluate the technical skills of the candidates. It includes the following subjects.
  1. Physics
  2. Mathematics
  3. Chemistry
  4. psychology

Applying For Masters

 

This is the last and most time consuming phase when you go for applying for different universities. The procedure involves searching those universities’ websites where you want to pursue you masters degree. On the website you need to search for the professors who are serving in those Universities. You have to contact them through email where you will introduce yourself and tell him/her about your qualification as well as the projects that you have done during the bachelors journey.

Contacting and approaching the professors will be very time consuming because they get thousands of emails from all around the world from different students. So the process may take time but the candidates should not feel upset because all good things take time and ultimately you will receive a response from them.

Once you have received the acceptance letter from them, It will be very beneficial for you because you will feel comfortable when you do your research under the supervision of a senior professor and apart from that if you work for those professors i.e. looking after their reports or helping them in their research, there is a good chance for you to get paid by them.
